can i wire 2 amplifiers in a series? what i mean is to send the 4gage batt. to one amp, the ground from that amp to the power on a second amp, and then the ground on that second amp to the chassis. would my unit function correctly?

that would be a negative. just get a distro. block for the power wire to both amps, then ground each amp like normal.

It will work as long as the 4 ga is sufficient size for both amps, and the other associated wires are large enough.

Basically you're just using the amp terminals as D-blocks.

It can turn ghetto pretty quick though.

when you have six wires connected to the power stage of an amp...it can get ugly. Especially if you're using big wires. D-blocks aren't expensive. If you want it to look organized that's definitely the way to go.

oh and where did you get 6 wires from?

im sending one power wire from the battery to my 4 channel, the ground from my 4 channel to the power on my 2 channel, and the ground from my 2 channel to the chassis... i only count 3 wires there..
