The Rca wires keep shorting out while white smoke pours out of my hood. Could the power wire also be shorting/melting. Also the amp it self makes a whining noise. However before the wires short the subs do work however I can’t turn the gain up past 1/4 of the way. Then after several minutes of use the wires begin to short again. Is this the amp.

PS. I have a 4 channel amp split off my other power line that is working fine.

Who did the install? Check all connections and once the connections are confirmed and are correct use a DMM on your amp. When you say split off your power line you mean the power wire is going to a distribution block then out to both amps correct?
