You can but the ohms are different in a home theater sub than a car sub. It wouldnt be good for the amp... A car sub would be cheaper in the long run..

Bob it will be fine for the amp and the ohms (impedence) is not neccesarily different, however most car amps are either 4 or 2 ohm stable. if you sub is an 8 ohm sub all you will do is cut the amps power in half, generally speaking. but because home subs are optimized for use in large areas, it will be very loud in your car
