so i have a used type r 12" dual 4 ohm and just bought a alpine mrp-m850 ... I was anxious so i set it up without the sub in a box... I put pos to pos on speaker and neg to neg and then the sub came with a real small wire that connects a different pos to a different neg both on the sub... in the end the sub ended up bouncing hard but in the front seat i couldnt even tell i had a sub hooked up...

Is this because
a) no box
b) bad wire setup
c) bad sub (bought it from a friend and made the mistake of never listening to it first)
