i just attempted to wire this unit in my buddys truck and it will not power on. i noticed the harness doesn't have a blue REM wire... don't know if it should or not. and what is with the 60w option? also, what is with the ACC and Battery (red and yellow) wires with the fuses and boxes?

does it have the blue/white wire cuz thats what your need to hook up your amp remote wire too.

"what is with the ACC and Battery (red and yellow) wires with the fuses and boxes?"

^did you hook them up? if not there is your problem right there....the fuses are for incase you hook it up wrong and it blows out the fuse b4 it damages your HU.

he doesn't have an amp yet, so no need for the blue/white. the harness for the HU doesn't have a solid blue wire though, so i don't know how it turns on and off...

i connected every wire, except the orange/white because his truck doesn't have one. it's a 99 dakota sport btw.

i'm confused as to what powers this thing, the red "acc" or the yellow "battery". like i said i had both hooked up...

also noticed he has a rather larger red wire connected to a green wire coming from inside the dash. it was screwed onto the back of his old HU. pretty sure it was ground... when i touched it to the back of the new Pio it sparked

If it sparked when it touched the back of the HU, then 1 of 3 things is going on.

1- That wire was not a ground, but rather a +

2- You have the HU wired incorrectly. (ground to +, + to ground)

3- The HU is fried internally.

Did you use a wire harness to connect to the stock harness or cut into the stock harness?

Most of Pioneer's higher end radios have inline fuses (the 6000 and up series).

Blue/white wire is remote...if that HU doesn't have one, you are missing a pin from the HU's harness.

Try taking the ignition wire from the radio and touching it with the 12v wire. see if it comes on.
