i have a kx450.2 i bought a 12" type r and was gonna hook it up at 4 ohms bridged. they sent me a dual 4 ohm instead of a dual 2 ohm. is it possible to hook it up bridged at 2 ohms without frying the amp if i keep the gain down or something? or should i just get another amp?

dont bridge that amp at 2ohms. since you have a dual4ohm type-r, i would suggest getting a kicker zx750.1. a friend of mine has that set up and it gets loud. box is 2.5cuft @35Hz

I'm sure some idiot has tried it before, but it is probably a bad idea. You would be better off selling it and get a proper mono amp. That sub with a zx750.1 should be a good match.
