Ok, so the past month I have been trying to decide what 15" sub to put into my car. Well I have narrowed my options to either SSA Icon, Fi Q, Kicker CVX, AQ HDC, or a used Mag! I'm stuck from here! What route should I go from here? $250-$300 max budget! |

FI Q... Never heard an Icon or HDC...I like the way the Q sounds better then a mag.. Good thing..is that if you get one and dont like it you could sell it and pick up another and not even be out much money if any... |

i don't wanna jump on any bandwagons, that's why I am reluctant of the Q but I hear so many geeat things about them. Which ever sub I go with, I wanna use Minimal trunk space as possible. Talking with Chad at SSA, he stated that the Icon gets loud and low without a lot of enclosure space! |

mag is its own bandwagon. the only sub you mentioned that doesnt really have a "bandwagon" is the ICON. although i love the ICON i wouldnt put it on the same level as MAG or Q especially power handling... the cisco kid |

Q is the better value. Mag is just a better sub. I regret selling my Mag. |

Fisher please let us know the results man. I'm curious to see them. Honestly, from what I've read and heard (only hearing the MAG and not the Q or Icon) but it is hard to find a sub that sounds better and gets louder than a Mag. |

Will do. I havent heard a mag, so I cant compare to that. But as of now, the Q is my favorite woofer I have owned. I was impressed by the output of the Q. And I moved to the 12" Q on 1000 watts from a pair of 18" MTs with 5000+ on them. Not saying they are comparable by any means, of course. |

If the Mag was priced like the Q sales would have quadrupled. If SI made an 18" Paul would've jizzed in his pants. We can't have everything I guess. |

http://www.caraudio.com/forum/showthread.php?t=310983 Nice price on a Mag. I don't know if Charlie and you have talked yet or not. if Charlie isn't ready to sell, then I'd buy this one. If Charlie is ready to sell, then I'd buy Charlie's. |

Cisco kid, on the power handling subject. The Icon and Q are both rms ratted at 1000 watts. Most Icon and Q owners are running 1200 watts on them. We do not recommend over powering the driver because we have no idea the actual quality of the install, that is the same reason Fi rates the Q at 1000. Neither driver needs any where near 1000 watts to play clear and strong daily. |

If you are smart with the gains and have a clean signal and a quality box, you should be okay. Most KX 1200.1's I have seen are doing well into 1400 watts. Unless you are a competitor, there is no real need to push the driver to it's limits. |

Yea, my KX does 1477. And I have a DMM that came with my books for school (I'm a Network Security major, had to take a PC repair class!). Honestly, I have the slightest clue how to accurately use the thing, but I know once I am taught, I will have the gains set perfect! lol And I don't plan on competing, maybe just have it metered. |

There are a few amplifier gain setting tutorials floating around the web. The sub will tell you when it is being over driven too. Plus, it is rare that on music that the amplifier will push full power, which is also dependent on how stout your electrical system is. |
