Any estimate on the current draw with the 2.150 at 4 ohms and the 1.600 at 2 ohms. I know they are efficient amplifiers but I was just curious to see an estimate. |

what's the size of your alternator? i dare to say your car will hold those amps |

It's an Infiniti I35, and I believe the alternator is 110 amp. I don't know the amps at idle though. I was under the impression that anything under 1,000 watts generally wouldn't need an alternator upgrade. |

I'll take a stab at it... ~900w at ~75% eff at ~13.5v = 88.88A That would be appx. current demand for full volume test tones. Assuming you listen to music you can knock that down to about 30A. Assuming again, that you don't listen at full volume ALL the time you can knock that down to 15-25A, or less. No problem at all for anything other than the weakest of electrical systems. At least it shouldn't be. |

Thanks for the reply. Is there any difference in current draw from 4 ohms to 2 ohms (since the amps are producing the same power at both impedances)? I'm just trying to avoid buying a HO alternator (I had to for my previous system/car). |

It would be 900 @ 2ohm max (600 @ 2ohms + 300 @ 2ohms). If you are worried, find a less powerful 2 channel, but I wouldnt be either. |

I had close to 1200W on my 55A alternator without much trouble. You'll be fine. |

"Is there any difference in current draw from 4 ohms to 2 ohms (since the amps are producing the same power at both impedances)" Probably a little bit. That type of amp is usually slightly less efficient at the lower impedance, but not by much. Not enough that you'd need an HO alt. FWIW - my old car had a 110A alt. I ran 360w class a/b, and 700 class D. It ran perfectly fine. |
