i am trying to find out what kind of set up i should get for my 85 cadillac seville. i can only spend $2,500 and i really dont know much about this stuff. i want the bass to hit VERY hard but not sound like a whale sharting...i feel pretty lost trying to research this stuff myself on the internet, so any help in this matter would be much appreciated.

so $2,500 for everything, meaning hu, amps, etc.?

real quick,
15" ssa icon and sundown sae1000d, $520 from www.soundsolutionsaudio.com

alpine 9887 hu, $359 from www.woofersetc.com

ported box - around $150-200 from either bj or phil (don't have links, at work)

comp. set, image dynamics cxs62 (2ohm version), $360 from woofersetc.

comp. amp, sundown saz100.2. $225 from www.kluvkustoms.com (or pm member kevin holden here)

total so far around $1665 or so. so say around $1,700. that leaves you plenty for wiring, some 0 gauge for doing the big 3, maybe a new starter battery, and some sound deadening.

you'll probably get better recommendations, just at work and rattled something off real fast.

the q is a really nice choice, but so is the icon. either way you can't lose, but at the price of that ssa package i'd definately lean towards the icon.
