Alright, So I am changing the HU out of a 1997 Mercury Tracer for a friend of mine. This is gotten so annoying, and I cannot get the radio to come out. Of course, its a Ford product so it has the "U" hook holes, and I have the "U" hook tools. But where the A/C knobs and controls are also there, I can't seem to figure out how to get the radio out. Anyone have any experience with a 97 Tracer? or a late-90's Ford Escort? [Same set-up]. Or know any good sites to help me? cause the ones I found doesn't help me at all. |

On some older Ford radios you just have to work w/ em. Put the hooks in and pull em apart a little. If the radio has a tape player, put you hand in that and pull. They are just stuck in there good sometimes. Try getting a flathead screwdriver in one side and pry a little on the radio. Be careful and don't crack the dash though. You even may have pull the dash out and get your hand on the side/back of the radio to pull/push it. Sometimes they just pop right out, and other times its a b1tch. |

Yes. It is a b1tch. and I have managed to get the left side loose and wiggle it a tad, but I didnt think about pulling from the tape deck. but what about the A/C knobs? since thats all attached with it. I know that the thermostat has to be at a specific spot for a little notch to go through, but I didnt know if there was anything else or not to it. |

take the part of the dash that surrounds your stereo out. that way you get a better view of how that is setup in there. |
