well one may be spoken for.. the other is an infocus x2 which is 1600 lumens and does 16:9 ... it is an actual DLP projector.. supports up to 720p which is essentially the same quality as 1080i but not the newest 1080p bulb hours on that is only 92hrs .. just checked around on the new.. some say 1500lumens and others 1700lumens so idk.. pictures looks awesome in a darker room but of course with any projector you want it dark :P link http://www.aboutprojectors.com/InFocus-X2-projector.html |

my friend has a projector that cost multiple thousands of dollars and the picture is alright, but nothing amazing and it literally can't be watched during the day without closing all windows and turning the lights off. even with his 110" screen i couldn't get into it. are all of them made like that? |

No Reece! There are some out there that are really expensive and have a low lumen count which honestly makes no sense to me. I was at a customer of mine he had one that was only 1080i with a lumen count of like 2600, that think was sweet! I sat there for like 40 mins while my helper did the install and played Lego starwars the complete saga with the dudes son (Xbox 360), it was tretched out to 110" sweet as hell! You want a high contrast, high lumen count with at least 1080i or 780p. You will not be able to tell the difference between a 1080i and a 1080p, already has been proven... Polo. |

If the guy speaking for the DLP unit backs out I might be interested. I'm thinking of doing a big screen and projector setup. Tv for the daytime and video games, projector for movies. I'd have to get a pull down screen tho but still....... If they're in great shape it's a good price. |

Ya, a DLP is MUCH smoother than a LCD. DLP has no pixel lines like the LCD does but the LCD has a higher contrast ratio, has the potential to be sharper, better for presentations as Kevin said. When looking for a unit, look for 2000+ lumens, 780p/1080i or 1080p (if you got the dough) 5000x contrast ratio, DLP unit. Also go read reviews and don't be afraid not to buy it from a mainstream retailer lOl. Polo.. |

Yeah if you have an unlimited income, DLP is the way to go but the distance between LCD and DLP is closing steadily. DLP has the new TI chips that are awesome and they have finally conquered the "rainbow effect" by designing new faster and more simple color wheels. LCD is gaining in contrast and black levels. If you have the cake, the newest 3 chip DLP's are the state of the art, but they start at the price of a new truck. For me, the price/performance leader is the Epson Home Cinema 1080 UB ($3k street), I just installed two of them with the Dalite 119" Cinema Contour screens and they are breathtaking. The most common reaction by people that see them is "Holy shìt" and "whoa!". 3 LCD, 50,000:1 contrast, native 1080P. If any of you doubt projectors, go look at one. You get what you pay for.
