How do you tell the efficiency of an amp? I just got an alpine mrd-m301 and was trying to do the calculations myself of what the rms output would be, but you cant do it unless you know the efficiency of the amp right? Also if the rms rating of the amp is underrated, as most high end companys will do, will it hurt my sub (also alpine, swr-1041d) if the amp puts out over 300w rms when the sub is rated only to 300w rms? |

no it shouldn't hurt that sub. and use this formula to find out the RMS rating. http://www.alternatorparts.com/ohms_law_formulas.htm |

nah, if the power is close, you should be fine. that amp is a class-D amp. about 80% efficient. add 20$ to calculate current draw. the amp's manual should list peak current draw as well.
