Hi all!

Installed a Viper 791xv to a 2002 Corolla two weeks ago. Have never used the remote starter or any other feature beyond alarming and disarming the vehicle. Today I am having problems...

Went to disarm and the remote did not respond as expected. It gave a delayed series of double beeps...3 sets of double beeps and displayed the disarm image. The car itself did not appear to respond. I thought I pressed the wrong button...so tried to arm and disarm again as I approached the vehicle. The remote did the same thing and shows the car is disarmed yet the car does not unlock, nor do the lights flash or the horn beep.

My questions:

1. Could it be the car battery?

2. If the remote says it is now disarmed, is the alarm indeed off while the car remains locked? Is the remote showing the true status of the alarm even if nothing else about the car responds or should I not trust that and assume it is armed?

I'm afraid of triggering the alarm and not being able to disable it. My installer did not show me the location of the valet button and he didn't tell me the preset response (# of presses).

3. If I need a jump, must I unhook or unplug anything first?

Thanks so much in advance...
