i have an 18 blt but i am wanting some bad a$s speakers. i don't realy know much about door speakers. is more better? i know of a friend that had some under his seats and they sounded better than stock ones. i know ur going to want to know how much i can spend. i was thinking like 500 bucks or so. but i will spend more if it really makes that big of a difference. with sql or spl on door speakers will spl have more bass? or will it just be loader in general? i want something that sounds amazing like the band is right in front of me. i am not sure how my 18 will sound in a car so might get sell it and get 2 12 btls. give me some ideas/ i have the time and i can do some custom work if more speakers are better. |

Well, it sounds like you want some like some good sounding speakers. With $500 you could get an array of equipment. Do you have an amp for the fronts, and if so what kind of power does it do/what is it? What kind of amp for the 18? Stock alternator? |

Its just my opinion, I don't have a problem w/ rear speakers. i have mine in the rear deck and they sound good. 1990 Cadi. DeVille. for the dual amps, get a HO alt. and another battery. From what I've heard, Capicitors are NO GOOD. Caps don't work like they should. A HO alt. is your best bet. HO = High Output |

X2 on the HO alternator is a must have if you're getting an MD-3D |

M.S. What about the rear speakers? For my information, should you or should you not have them? or does it matter? |

No rear speakers, actually worsens sound wquality. Spend more money on better fronts or pocket the money. |

for the front stage look at a 2channel amp or a 4channel and bridge it. thats what i have. just get an amp that will easily power the speakers (i.e. if rms on speakers is 70-90, then get an amp that does 100 just so it doesnt have to work hard to push them.) |

^^^^ exactly. and if you want something that "sounds amazing like the band is right in front of me" your going to have to spend more than $500 for speakers and amp. My recommendation: CDT HD components Alpine MRP-F550 why? Because thats my setup.... |

Their speakers are ok but they don't hold a candle to CDT, focal, rainbow, etc. Since you liked those high end focals: Focal makes a set that sells for ~$250-300, maybe give those a listen. I have heard them and would take the HDs over them though. |
