What type of speakers go in the rear..
Coaxial or Mids

or are they the same or does it matter?

Depends on their size. 4-6.5" coaxials usually on the doors. 6X9 coaxials rear deck. Coaxial just means the speaker is a combination of a tweeter and a mid bass or woofer. Your midrange will come from your coaxials. Leave the lows to your subs, in the rear or trunk. I wouldn't put mids in the rear.
