I'm new to this forum and Here's my situation: I've had my '03 Protege for 3 years now and just started having problems a few months ago. What happened is my battery died and I didn't put a new one in til about 3 months later cause I'm in college and couldn't afford one, well first I charged a battery and put it in and my alarm system would not go off and i pressed buttons and nothing. so i disconnected battery and finally got a new battery and the alarm went off for a couple seconds and then shut off on it's own and i drove it for a while fine, but if the car sits without being ran almost a day and a half the battery is dead and when i charge the battery and put it in the alarm goes crazy and i'm not sure what to do about this! i don't have money to take it to a shop but i am mechanically inclined so any direction in fixing this i can take on. i'm sure it's just something simple, and all i have to do is press buttons in a certain order. also another stipulation is that i don't have the factory code. i've called the original owner and the people who put it in and nothing, and i think the installers are skeezy therefor i'd rather not take my car there! any suggestions would be appreciated! thanks guys
