Hi I'm looking at a pioneer premier 12 it has a 2000 watt RMS rating on it and all I can find is JL 1000/1 and rockford 1000.1. can I run 2 amps one on each coil are do I need one 2000 watt RMS amp? Are if anyone knows where I can find a 2000 watt amp that would be great too. Thanks |

the power handling spec of a sub is a thermal rating for how much power the voice coil(s) can handle without damage. It's not actually a rating of how much power is required to reach peak performance, which is almost always much less. You should be fine with about 500wRMS for that sub. You should reach mechanical Xmax with that much power in a good box.

well, 1000 watts is better. that spl5000 would run just fine and dandy. |

gw is right a JBL600.1 could easily do the job for you in a large ported/sealed box
