My stock alt is only about 80amps and I had some problems with my charging system when I was running a sx900.4. Now I have plans to get a new alt an EA quoted me $365 for a 180amp and then on ebay I found an Iraggi but the Iraggi is 200amp/90idle. My question is Is 90 at idle alrgiht?

It is ok, you just can't play the system full blast with it at idle.

Most HO alts only do around 100 amps at idle, its hard to get more than that.

That's why I raised my idle :-) Stopping isn't that easy though lol.My brakes get destroyed pretty quick but it's worth it.It's cheaper to replace brakes than it is my subs or amps :-)

Thats not good for your engine and transmission either....... I would never change the idle out of spec on any of my vehicles. My alternator does 100 amps at idle at it supports my 3kw system just fine, I just dont blast it at stoplights and such.

No, batteries are not a substitute for an HO alt.

a second batt in addition to the HO will help at idle, because when driving the alt will recharge the batteries.
