from what? a head unit with pre-amp outputs? sure, it's called a line-driver. www.audiocontrol.com makes one. a very nice one.

depends on the line driver. many mount behind the head unit, and connect to a +12V source for power, then you run the head unit RCA lines to the little box, and out of the box to the amps. the little device has a screw adjuster for setting the oyutput voltage similar to the gains on an amp usually. Others are built into devices like audiocontrol's EQs, Premaps, and Signal Processors. then you just go through the signal processor and set output voltage on the device. its all integrated
