I did the same thing, purchased a new remote from ebay. When I called the number on the Karr Security website they asked me where I got the new remote. I told them ebay and the guy over the phone was a real jerk and basically told me that he knew how to program the new remote to the alarm but would not tell me since we did not purchase the remote form them....

Sorry for the rant but you can imagine my frustration.

Well I was able to find a process here on this site but cannot seem to find the thread.

But the way that I added a new remote to the Karr 2040 was to

1.open car door

2.turn key to "ON" position

3.press valet button 3 times

4.Now the car is ready to recieve new signal from new remotes. Press and hold remote button #1 until you hear a chirp. I was able to add 2 remotes this way, however we went through the process of turning the car off then on for the 2nd remote.

Not sure if there are additional channels that you could add but we have 3 remotes total now.

I will keep looking for the post with the real steps but this method should work since it worked for me.

Since I cannot find the thread I will just type what I printed out.

To program new or additional transmitters,

1. Enter the vehicle, and turn the ignition key to the " on " position.

2. Flip the valet switch on - off - on - off - on - then off.

3. The dash L.E.D. will flash one time, and the siren will chirp one time,

indicating the system is ready to accept programming for receiver

channel 1.

4. Press and hold the selected transmitter button ( s ) until the siren sounds

a long chirp, indicating the signal has been stored into memory.

5. If you have additional transmitters ( up to 3 ) that need to be programmed,

repeat step 4 for each transmitter.

6. Flip the valet switch on then off.

7. The dash L.E.D. will flash two times, and the siren will chirp two times,

indicating the system is ready to accept programming for receiver

channel 2.

8. Press and hold the selected transmitter button ( s ) until the siren sounds

a long chirp, indicating the signal has been stored into memory.

9. If you have additional transmitters ( up to 3 ) that need to be programmed,

repeat step 8 for each transmitter.

10. Flip the valet switch on then off.

11. The dash L.E.D. will flash three times, and the siren will chirp three times,

indicating the system is ready to accept programming for receiver

channel 3.

12. Press and hold the selected transmitter button ( s ) until the siren sounds

a long chirp, indicating the signal has been stored into memory.

13. If you have additional transmitters ( up to 3 ) that need to be programmed,

repeat step 12 for each transmitter.

14. Flip the valet switch on then off.

15. The dash L.E.D. will flash four times, and the siren will chirp four times,

indicating the system is ready to accept programming for receiver

channel 4.

16. Press and hold the selected transmitter button ( s ) until the siren sounds

a long chirp, indicating the signal has been stored into memory.

17. If you have additional transmitters ( up to 3 ) that need to be programmed,

repeat step 16 for each transmitter.

18. Turn the ignition key off. The siren will sound one short chirp then one

long chirp indicating the system has terminated the program mode.
