i have two escort 8500s (i believe that is the model) and after about a year and a half with each both of them began giving false laser alerts, i ended up turning off the laser band on the radar detector. does anyone else have the same problem? |

well laser is pretty much a bogus feature anyways. once it detects it you are gunned down! there is no detecting it before your hit with it. I hear the new 9500 has a gps locator and has a memory chip to avaoid false alerts. I know a place that I go by every day that sets off K band and from what I understand the new one will remember this place and not go off anymore. Now here is the kicker, sometimes cops sit in the parking lot of the place where it sets off K naturally. So will it not go off if a cop is doing radar in the parking lot? I am interested to find out. |

from my understanding of radar, i think if that area has K band radar being broadcast in it and the cops radar is also K band, then it would interfere with the cop's radar and give false readings. So he would most likely not station himself in that area. |
