I recently removed my Sony X-Plod Stereo to replace it with another. All went easy until I got no sound from any of the four speakers. Double checked wires, tested stereo with external speaker and it works. All of a sudden no sound, even with the old stereo put back in. What did I do? All grounds test good. All speakers test good.Is there a common connector somewhere?

i can bet almost a 100 percent u grounded a speaker. i had this happen in my old 86 suburban i was installing a infinity pair in back, screwed a screw to tight it pushed my speaker connnection to the body it grounded. until i loosened the screw the audio was dead. best bet check all ur speaker wires see if one got cut and is grounded and lastly if anything check ur radio /acc fuse but u said it turned on right? if so u should be alright there. if ur soldering as i do into ur speaker wires that are in your car then check every wire for slits and cuts plus eletrical tape or heat shrink your connections. if all else fails check the speakers make sure nothings grounding. theres nothing else that should cause your problem as long as the head unit a.k.a radio comes on. your last and final resort is if the connector plug on your radio uses a metra adapter or some type of a conversion from stock to after market press it tight and check the wire inserts to see if any pulled out i had a r.e.m do that on the radio connector and my subs wouldn't turn on till i corrected it so make a check list go through it, remember nothing dies without a cause to it.

I cut the adapter off the loom to eliminate any connector problems. The radio puts out sound to a hand held speaker. I removed a speaker from the van door to test and the speaker works. I continuity checked the wires to the door and they register open. I cannot believe that all 8 wires broke or grounded. I should get sound or even static or a crackle out of at least 1 of the 4 speakers. That's why I was leaning toward some common connector or relay or something. I was reaching under the drivers side trying to get to the headlight switch release button to remove the shaft and be able to remove the overlay. I thought maybe I disconnected something. The old stereo worked. Now after I've been under the dash, none of them give sound.

i understand what youre sayin but it onnly takes on to ground, how about this. do you have a multi meter u can check ur speaker wire for continuity and it will help dramaticlly. the only other thing u reversed the pos and negs but even then i think u might generate sound. u best bet make sure u tied back in to the correct wires . also take a external source and test ur speaker wires not at the door but at the dash. take a mp3 player and so on make a head phone jack y and try ur speakers to it u should get a little burst of sound comoing through if that dosen't work u narrowed down your problem to the wires thierself.
