i have focal components in the front of my explorer, but sonys in the back, i definately want to upgrade from sony. I was looking at the JL XR 5x7 and infinity kappa 5x7. I have 2 15" subs so i dont really need bass, just highs. i can spend around $200. what would best 5x7 speakers be for highs? |

I would go with Infinity Kappas. JL does make good stuff, but for the price diff, not woth it. IMO anyways. But be aware that you might notice the sound of the JL's more so than the INF though. They have a diff sound to them. Depends what you want, undistorded, smooth & natural yet balanced sound, or loud, crisp and clear, but not as balanced. IMO they both sound good, but I think Inf just sounds more natural and smoother than the JL's of the same class.. . . and cheaper too. But, that's not desireable to everyone............. If the intent of the 15's are to be loud(duh), then you might just want to go with what will keep up. IMO the JL might get louder than INF. But truthfully, for 200 I would recommend you go with a comp set rather than coax. You would get a better buy. Just my 2 cents |

Which Focal components do you have in the front? I have an Explorer and am looking to put some comps in the front as well. |

Another thing. Most audiofiles would recommend that you use the coax as the rear fill. I beliave DLS makes some that are more or less made only for rear fill. It would be cheaper than 200. |

jl bashing again. if you wait i think jl coming out with a new line in a month give or take. also you could try and fit 6.5's in instead of 5x7's, easier to find size. i would take jl's over the infiniti's. dont got anything against them ive just always used and been happy with jl. |
