I am new to this and would like to put a systemin my suv. i am looking at 2 subs--12" with a 1200 watt each and 4 ohms. what does this mean and what kind of amp do i need?

if they're svc you gonna need a 2 ohm amp if they're dvc you go need a 1ohm amp are those subs 1200 watts rms or peak whats the rms on those subs

ohms have to do with how you wire ur subs.....and u never use peak always rms...what subs are they??

Pyle PL1290BL 12. or Cerwin Vega V MAX 122. 600 RMS, 1200 (RMS pair), 1200 max, 2400 (max pair); 1 ohm/4ohm.

with the cerwin vega do i look for an amp that an handle 600 or 1200 rms.

Don't get Pyle, they're low in quality chart.
If the CV's are really 600w rms, then you need 1200w rms amp to power both. Since you mentioned 4ohms DVC subs, that means the amp has to put out 1200w rms @ 4ohms or 1ohm. Therefore, look for am that has those numbers.

So i got the CVs. they say they are 600w rms each (1200w rms pair) and can be wired at 1 or 4 ohm. Will this amp work before this buy it?

Memphis 16-PRD500.1 500x1 1OHM RMS

RMS Power (W) 200X1 @ 4ohms / 300x1 @ 2ohms / 500x1 @ 1ohm
THD @ 4 ohms 0.05%

if they are 600 rms each and you get that amp, you will only be fully powering one of the subs with 500x1 at 1 ohm, look at teh memphis 1000d or whatever the name of it is if your lookin at memphis specifiacally

Or you could just get a hifonics 1606d which everyone says is 1200w rms @ 1 ohm give or take
