i just got 2 audiobahn 12" subs (800 watts peek 400 watts rms 2 ohm) is it ok to use a amp that is 500 x 2 channel watts rms

i dont think a 4 ohm amp will work with a 2 ohm sub but im not sure

You need to check if either of these amps are rated to run a 2 ohm stereo load. Most amps these days will run 2 ohm stereo but it is still safer to check first. What brand and model are the amps?
