Anyone heard these first hand? Would this sound better than having the tweets at earlevel? I have been in a few cars with upgraded tweets in the A pillar, and it just hurts the ears, but this might be because they were metal as opposed to silk?

yes they work. i am using some right now, they offer very good imaging for the tweeter. You need to make sure you have about 1in to 1.5in of space in front of the woofer as the bracket and tweeter stick out in front of it. But i use the silk drt-25 in there and its fine and does a very good job at imaging.
