it appears that the woofers from my alpine spr-17ls components are damaged. I bought the set on ebay and its too late to return them. I'm thinking of replacing the woofers with a pair of poly 6.5. Will this work?

Spr-17ls specs:
70 rms (350 peak)
87db

poly 6.5 specs:
100rms
88db

your crossover may change some aspects of the SQ since its made for a different woofer but should be ok.

Well, the chances are it will sound different, but you would have to know what to listen for.
Just make sure that the woofer you are getting can do the freq range that it will be playing (make sure it doesn't roll off before the x-over point on the x-over)

Just buy a new set, because you are deeper into woods than you think. It's not that easy to mix ant match if you want to achieve good results. Just get this:

It will sound better than your Alpine set.:-)
