hi guys Im going to install a center channel. Most setups ive read about consist of a 4 or 6 inch driver (mid-range, or mid-bass?) flanked on each side by tweets. Wouldnt his create a wierd ohm load? (1.34) There are some mid channel prefabs out there. Sorry lost my focus.... So, any mid channel ideas? |

from what i hear the tweets wont make a difference in ohm load. i think the only point of a center channel is if you have a 5.1 processor |

Yes Mat, I do have a 5.1 EQ, Hence the qestion. And Alter can you elaborate a little on that? 2 crossovers? 2 8ohm drivers? and this would be wired how? This is what Im looking to do. My Question is what kind of driver should I use? 2-full range? 2-mid range, And 1 tweet, Am looking at the Beyma AST 22, and a AST 05 Thanks. has/Is anyone else doing/done a 5.1 install? |

All you need for a 5.1 setup is one center channel which will play preferably full range. I would suggest an 8ohm mid and 8ohm tweeter or some HT tweeters do have a pretty broad range( like q 2in tweeter) and use that. You will need a small amp to run them since most HT drivers need very little power compared to car speakers. Buy a crossover that does 8ohm speakers and wire it normally and there's you a center channel. |

centers are nice if you have a DVD playing or a 5.1 setup audio DVD. Other than that its crap. I've set one up for one of my friends car using a 3way component setup. We bought the drivers seperate but used a HD-6, EF-6Neo and Tw-25 and used the Satnet 30DT 3way crossover. The signal processor had an output for center channel for itself and we used a small 2ch amp bridged to run the setup. Worked quite nice for a center channel, the HD-6 was low in the dash where the trash/ash tray goes, the EF-6Neo and tweeter were up on top of the dash. He's been asking about sticking the M6 in there but I think that may be a little too much. |
