What do you think is the best quality HU with a USB input on it? I am building a system and I want an HU with USB so I can play songs from a flash drive. The only companies I have found that make HU's with USB are Alpine, JVC, and Kenwood. Kenwood are not good and the Alpine CDA-9857 won't fit in my dash, so I'm left with the JVC KD-G820:

But that unit only has 2 volt outputs for the subs, and it lacks other high end features like a good EQ. So, are any HU's of the Pioneer Premier quailty level out there that have USB, or is this the best I can do?

What makes you think Kenwood is not good? Kenwood is better than JVC and probably better than current alpine models.

i'd take the Kenwood eXcelon X590

It doesn't get much better for the price.

I too am looking for one that has that feature, but like you, there does not seem to be a lot out there right now. The new models should start rolling out soon, so hopefully there will be some new players. Eclipse also makes one.

Hmm, Hondarider is right about that Kenwood, man it even has 24bit DAC, not bad at all for the money.

Well thinking about it a little more, I am opting for a HU with an AUX port to just run an Ipod from. Seems that the Mem sticks only hold 20-50 songs, it just seems the gimmick of it if not good right now. It would be nice if they had both,
Idealy a HU with the 860 6 volt outs and sound quality. Front AUX port and front USB, and a card reader, bluetooth, and a remote.

Yea, this is crap, but it has a lot of imputs. Why cant pioneer come out with somehing like this?

This all-in-one CD Headunit from Virtual Reality Sound Labs allows you to easily transport your music on USB or SD memory devices and play them in your car. Or simply plug into the audio input and play your tunes through the stereo.

JVC Arsenal HU's are in the Excellent category on the good/bad/ugly list. Kenwood is listed as questionable.

I just found out that JVC makes an Arsenal version of the HU I want, so I may get that.

It still only has 3-band EQ, but I guess I can live with that. If I ever really needed a good EQ I could get an external one.
