recently the instrument panel cluster some what failed in my 97 pontiac grand am SE (2.4 4-Cyl). all the lights work, including odometer, but none of the gauges.
i took the cluster apart, cleaned it up, checked the connections, no go.
is there anything else i should do to make it work? what about the neutral wire under the hood? can someone suggest me how and where to check ground wires? please email me at nitinchawla001@gmail.com

My unit has a seperate thick black wire which im sure is for the antenna - i want to know if i should go ahead and hook up the blue/white wire to the blue one on my wiring harness... please respond |

Yes i hooked up my cd player to my 1997 cavalier but the wires werent coverd and i heard a pop....I checked my fuses and the radio blew but i changed it and the cd player still won't work......I know the cd player works cuz we tried it on my buddies vehicle in which he has the same cd player as i do......Did i short out the wires or what could of happened |

i have an infinity amp stock in my 2003 durango...so how do i hook my new amp up...do i have to have a remote turn on wire...and can i hook wires up to the speakers instead of using rca's because my stock stereo dont' have any rca jacks...and i dont' want to buy a line out converter...but my main problem is the remote turn on wire...how do i hook it up...or do i even need it? |

It is absolutely necessary to buy a line out converter if you are planning to use your amp with your stock unit. There's no other way to do it.
You need the remote wire to turn on the amp...otherwise it won't turn on. Just wire it to a fuse in the fusebox that only gets power when the car is on.
To put it into common sense: Why would car manufacturers make it possible to hook up external amplifiers with no external accessories? Especially after they've spent millions themselves on developing the head unit speakers etc.
And please respond to your original post, not put another post in this thread. This one has enough  |

I have a 95 ford explorer and i am tryin to hook a system up....i couldnt find a wiring harness to fit my wires in my dash so i had to splice the wires....now i dont know which wires go to what and i cant find the codes anywhere....all of the ones posted recently dont work.....my explorer is an edie bower addition and has a "premium wiring system"...please help |

Help! I need to identify the wiring on my 2000 Ford Econoline 150 and the Haynes manual doesn't match the actual wiring for this stereo. The wiring I found on here for the 2000 Explorer is very close, but doesn;t cover 2-4 wires I have. My unit has the six speaker audio (I suspect the middle pair shares with either front or back for wiring to the head unit), and the CD/cassette/AM/FM head unit.
Trying to hook up a sub, and need to know so I can connect the convertor that will give me RCA jacks.
Also need to know where to hook up the remote wire. |

Hey Guys.
My Missus has a 1991 Fold Laser and I'm trying to get bonus points by putting in a new head unit for her, just wondering if anybody had the wiring diagram. Not sure if they released the Laser in the US though because all the US ford sites have no record of ever having released a Laser. If nobody has the wiring colours, where would i be able to find them?

hey there i have an 89 thunderbird lx with the factory jbl audio system and a factory jbl sub. i need to know what wires are what on all three of the plugs in the dash so i can hook up my aftermarket head-unit. one plug is a six pin square plug, one is an eight pin square plug, and one is the flat gray plug. if anyone could help me out that would be great.

any1 got wiring colors or diagram for 2005 sunfire? has the cd player deck (not monsoon headunit) ive tried using 2000 - 2004 colors and some of them just dont match up.. (ignition and a few others) i ended up blowing a fuse and putting the factory unit back in so dog doesent chew the wires when he in the car |

there is no ignition wire (memory wire)on the 05-07 Ponti Sunfire. Take it straight line from sig.lighter.(ACC Wire)
purple wire from factory radio going straight to body computer, this the MEMORY LINE,but without 12V.
By the new tech, memory from couple of units (radio,clock,sat,seats..etg.)stays inside BCM

Okay ive sussed all tha speaker wires out but theres 5 wires left over they are:
2x bule with white spripe
2x white with green stripe
and one green with white stripe
the green one i believe is illumination however my headunit doesnt hav and illumination wire.
Ive tryed the other wires but nothing. there seems 2 be no power wires im lost....... |

I'm still having trouble finding the speed sense wire for the 07 sport trac. Can you post 06 or 05 F150 radio wiring diagram. Maybe they are the same. (I know the speed sense wire is in the radio wiring harness somewhere)

Helo i have a 3 door vauxhall corsa, 1993 k reg.
but it has not wiring system at all for a stereo, beleive me i looked everywere..
my friend said its possible to buy a lead which will connect from the battery to the stereo to power it, but i cant find this lead anywhere.

Well,look at this diagrams and try pin #14.This is VSS wire (speed sensor),he is coming straight from [engine controls system].Both head units(base and premium used the same pin #14 GRY/BLK wire).
the wire color is GRY/BLK
let me know if you cannot find it.

I figured it out, FINALLY. Thanks a million for your help. It was the Purple/Orange wire on pin 1 on the PCM.
Without your help I would have never figured it out. Thanks.

regarding the ford laser i know the speakers wires are i am left with 4 other wired blu/blk, red/blk, blu/red, red/ylw. I know red/blk is the battery and blu/blk apears to be the ingnition however the head unit won't turn on unless the headlights are on what am i missing? the other two wires appear to be the headlight and key warning sounds, help would be greatly appriciated |

I cant get this to work i tried hooking up the red wire marked battery and the yellow wire marked acc (on my after market cd player)to the ones from the car, i thought if i did that my cd player would be on? im lost |

justin,check all the fuses! and make sure you connected right your new HU.(small advise.do it with meter)
acc wire--- YEL/BLK
batt.wire(plus all the time)----LT GRN/YEL

Mike, I have another one (actually two) for you good buddy. Can you please help one last time today?
My good friend gave me two Sony Face Off CD units but with out the diagrams. I know which ones are the ground and power but I'm confused with the rest.
Can you please tell me which colors are for what? Or you can send me a diagram.

Let me add one more. My factory unit is having trouble with gaining clear radio frequency...do you think maybe the unit it self is bad or should I change the antenna? I did do a thorough inspection of the antenna cable and the unit. I did not see any damage or cuts in the cable. Is there any other problem it might be? Should I just change the unit? Or should I just take it to an audio specialist?

and about radio: it's could be a million reason,HU(head unit) no good,or cable,or chip inside the HU,or bad ground,or antenna amp. is broken....etc. Just buy in Walmart cheap antenna($ 9-15) with cable(motorola plug) and try to connect with it.If it's the same, then the problem is HU.
That is all.

Does anyone have the color codes for a 1992 Ford Mustang LX? A previous owner decided do to some custom wiring for no apparent reason. I am trying to run a Sony CDX-F5500. I bought the connecter but still no sound and a "failure" message due to the previous wiring. Thanks.

If you open rear gate the Amp.stays on right rear quarter,behind trim panel. |
