i've just bought a 1993 ford escort and need to fit a stereo. however the colour coding of the stereo wires in the vehicle is totally different to the codes given on this page and everywhere else i've found online. i've managed to figure out the speaker wires but i can't work out the others. they are:
red, brown, yellow, blue/yellow, brown/white and fat brown.
if anyone can help i'd be grateful |

they should be makerd is small lettering, but if you have the aftermarket harness for that car(best way to run a radio) the wires will match up. |

alos on sunfire, been awhile since i did one, but it had a relocation harness and i think there was no power ar the harness benind the radio(switched), you can run them direct to fuse block., but double check all fuses first(both sides of the fuse) |

Thanks Ty, that second posting was what really helped me. I couldn't figure out where to get my switched power from until you suggested running direct into the fuse block, which instantaneously sparked my memory. Much appreciated for the help, and thanks for you time!
P.S. 2000 -2001 sunfires do have the same colour scheme for wiring, so does everything else after 1997 up to the 2004 ( with pontiac sunfires) |

I have a power antenna on a 98 ford explorer and it doesnt move when I turn the radio on. I also have a new deck does anybody know what wire I should jump the power antenna to to make it go up when the radio is on? |

the radio has a power antenna lead on it. make sure you have it hooked up.not the remote turn on wire. |

I have an 05 ford taurus. I'm going to install a cd player with the installation kit. It includes air conditioner switches. However, my car has an air bag light by the ac switches and the installation kit doesn't. Will that cause a problem? If so, what do I do to fix it. Anyone's help is greatly appreciated, thanks. |

Hey i have the radio connect right but i havent got any power it worked once but then when i turned it off i went to turn it back on but now it wont turn back on i have a toyota paseo 1992 and i have cheaked the radio fuse any one got any ideas for me??? |

if some one can tell me which car wire gose to what CD harness color to make it work that would be great I have been waiting way to long and driving with out music sucks the big one..

also I don't know if I shorted any wires cause they were not coverd at all.
All of the fuse's are fine and the CD player fuse I dont know what would happen if it shorted so TY the man let me know and the above is the most inportant thing right now.. thanks buddy. |

Matt H, here is the wiring diagram for that car, alos use a test light an make sure you have power on both acces and constant power. the wires on the radio s/b marked. just match up/

just a tool that has a wire on 1 end(ground) and a light tester on other.it allows you to test for current, or if you have a multimeter it will work also. you can get cheap one at advance or autozone.... |

Hey Ty, i used the 82' - 85' wiring info, you supplied earlier to someone, to install a new head unit in my 89' celica. so far all worked out well except i was left over with a pink/blue wire that was coming from the car, what is that for? would i be able to get the 89' celica wiring info?

ok i have one lightning audio 900 watt 4 channel amp,one lightning audio 600 watt 2 channel amp,one pair of 6.5" 420 watt coaxial speakers,one 12x12"kicker L7 1000watt,one boss audio crossover,and one 1.0farad capacitor. my problem is my 900watt 4 channel amp keeps kicking off when i turn it up loud. please help |

i need the wiring schematics for a 1990 740 volvo Turbo n will the wires hook right up to the head unit because the stock unit came with a plug for the back so the wires were wrapped as one i have a year old pioneer head unit would it be easier for me to hook it up cause thats how i wanna do it because i didnt think it be that hard or would it be easier to get professionally done because of the way everything is set up like the plug in for the speakers thanks alot for the help |

I have a 1997 Ford Mustang with the 460 Mach audio system. I am putting in a Sony Explode cd played. I have purchased the FDK10 wiring harnes for the install and have managed to get the stero to power up and the radio to work but for some reason the cd player comes on and playes cd's but there is no sound from the cd. Any ideas what is wrong? Any help would be appreciated.
