I have a p325.1 and the htermal light stays on no matter what.. no its never been used before so its not hot, yes its wired correctly... i mean ive wired amps before and never had an issue.. and i triple checked everything before i asked here... I was told if my alternator is not putting out enough power the amp does that.. is that true? |

Have you tried to power the unit without anything connected to it (other than power of course). The unit should power up no problem, regardless of alternator. Just at idle a good working unit shouldn't pull over 2-3 amps.
If you still get the fault with just the amp powered up, then you have an amp problem. If not, start connecting everything back up one device at a time until the problem returns.
This will help you figure your problem out.
Also, make sure to check your wiring. Especially your ground.

Definitely sounds like a grounding issue- even with your engine not running the alternator this would not be a problem. Try running a new ground wire (even if just temporary) to see if it solves your problem. |
