Thread: Componet speakers vs regular car speakers. |

i forgot the name of the regularcar speakers.. 2 way, whatever. it doesnt matter i suppose.
is there really that much of a dif? i had my whole system set out:
speakers: alpine SPS-13C2, OR SPS-57C2
head unit: alpine cda-9856
sub: alpine type r 12 inch, 1242d. get the dual 4ohm and wire it to 2ohm.
amp for speakers: alpine MRP-F250
amp for sub: Alpine MRD-605,wired to 2ohms
but someone is telling me that componet speakers are really worth it, and is hould get them instead :/ |

Short version:
Component speakers have a seperate tweeter and woofer, generally with an external crossover to direct the proper frequencies to the driver designed to reproduce that frequency range.
Example:Alpine Type S Components
Coaxial speakers stack the woofer and tweeter together and generally have a far more basic built in crossover.
Example: Alpine Type S Coaxials
Components offer more flexability and adjustability and nearly always better sound reproduction.

components are good if done corretly. Install plays a big factor into this. Bad imaging or placement and not enough care taken into the installation such as dynamat and such and you'll not have the noticeable difference you may be expecting. |

dynamat everywhere, out metal skin of the door, inner, around the speaker mounting spots, over any gaps on te door, on the door panels. Deadening the door and adding some weight to it helps out alot. Also adding baffles that help eliminate standing waves behind the woofers can help too. |
