I noticed that every web page i go to that sells car speakers recommends the polk audio brand. I came to eCoustics.com because most people know what they are talking about. Im about to buy some speakers, and i want to know if polk is the way to go thank you. |

polk is more a low mid to mid level company now. Ever since they started mass producing they lost their focus. Their signature series in both car and HT are midlevel. They don't compare to some of the high end companies like some of the Dyn and DLS speakers in car and their HT stuff even Sig line doesn't compare with stuff from some other companies like Paradigm or maartin logan. |

Go with CDT's. Best speakers for the money. Alteraudio is a dealer and can get you a good deal on some. |

I would love to see any one find a finer set than the Polk SR series. Yes, the Signature line. |

for what home or car? HT paradigm has much better sounding speakers and for car, DLS and Seas are better to my ears. |

Indeed, that's all relative to the listener's ears. But to say that they don't nearly compare is a bit far-fetched, no? Just as a subjective reference, CA&E scored the SR right there with the Seas. Polk SR SQ- 16/20 Tonality- 8/10 low hz extension- 9/10 clarity (low volume)- 7/10 clarity (high volume)- 8/10 Image stability- 8/10 listening fatigue- 9/10 installation ease- 15/20 total= 80/100 SEAS SQ- 17/20 Tonality- 8/10 low hz extension- 5/10 clarity (low volume)- 9/10 clarity (high volume)- 7/10 Image stability- 9/10 listening fatigue- 9/10 installation ease 12/20 total- 78/100 And the DLS IR 6.3 are superb. But the 2 ways don't compare with the SR's or SEAS at all. As for Paradigm and M. logan, I've never seen a car audio application. And the home apps are expensive as all get out. |

Nice post, mikechec, I love to see when lower priced speakers outdo the higher priced ones. It seems like brand name and expensive materials (not to mention unnecessary-like Beryllium, Titanium etc.) are the driving force behind the higher prices of higher end brands. |
