i'm planning to put 4" (component) speakers and 5.25/6.5" component speakers in my interior. to power them i'm goin to use a HiFonics Zeus ZX-6400 4-Channel Amp (85x4 rms). the 4"ers i plan on getting are around 50 rms and the 5.25/6.5"s around 80-90 rms.

Will the amp recognize that the 4"s can't push 85w without blowing them, so then push their rms? the 5.25/6.5's will be fine, but will the amp adjust to the 4"s?

The Zeus amp has crossovers built in i think so would i need to get 4" components instead of just the speakers?
thanks

I think that you can turn the power down or up on your amp. I know most Rockfords Have a dial on the bottom that you can turn down the power.

no, the power given to each speaker is solely based on the volue control, the rated output of the amp itself, and the presented load by the speaker.

you may want to use the 6.5" separates in front and forget the 4"
then bridge the amp to two channels and drive a solid front stage with a lot of clean power
