I am looking for the color code on the wiring harness for the 2002 Ford F-150 Supercab. I need to find out which wires are the speakers wires and which is which and the remote wire...I have an output converter so I can take the signal from the back of factory stereo and convert it to RCA to send to my amp. Is that the best way to go? Thanks |

Why dont we skip the middle men eh? the site they are getting they're information from this site http://www.the12volt.com Right in the middle it asks for your car information. Yes you have to register but its free. It will just save space on the threads if y'all go and get the information yourselves. |

Thanks,Newton, for that link. That explains why my two requests for pinout (not color code) info have gone unanswered. But now I'm wondering why Ty bothers to go get this info over and over again, rather than just posting the link in a prominent place. Personally, I'd rather teach a man to fish than catch a fish for every man who asks. |

Colby, the harness from your CD player will never match to the Car harness. Look what you have to do! Read the schema from Mike and read from your CD player,Just by comparing for example, where is Left Rear speaker Plus and Minus and what color they are.I meaned wires. By the way,Red is always BATTERY. and Yellow is Acc aka Memory or IGNITION WIRE. But Listen DO NOT CONNECT YOUR NEW HEAD UNIT ONLY BY MATCHING WIRE COLOR,THINK ,THEY WILL NOT FIT LIKE THAT |

wass up sld...next time call your self lsd...sounds better, you know this stuff, dont you... OK Yahoogirlzzz,Any idea what system was before...premium or base(cuz this is very important!) If the system is BASE then a constant wire is BROWN if the system is PREMIUM then it RED wire. check by this schemas (you can compare your plug what is coming to the radio) go to radio store and get elec.tester, one end to the ground(black) and the other end(red) to any power wire...do not start the car, leave the key in the pocket, try red wire, then brown one...find which one is hot(got +12V and up,can be up 14V).this is will be constant. for ground use only unpainted metal surf.

That didn't seem to work... on the diagram it shows there being two yellow wires coming from the old version, however there is not. There also weren't a few other wires that were used. Any other ideas? |

I guess I am just a little confused... The diagrams all show several purple wires. Am I only to be concerned with the middle group of wires? If so, I believe U85 is my set up, because my wiring only has one purple wire, it has 2 blacks, and two greys. So I need the U85 correct? How do I know what to hook to my CD player though? no diagram is in the owners manual, and cannot find one on the internet. Thanks a bunch Mike, I really appreciate the help! |

Okay, I found a wiring table for a pioneer cd player... http://www.carstereo.com/help/radio_wires.cfm My only question is, the wiring diagram coming out of my car only show one wire being used for the battery, it is Orange and it is labeled "battery" So, since the table for the pioneer shows one being for memory, and the other for igntion, Memory (+12v Constant) Yellow Ignition (+12v Switched) Red Which one is do I hook to my orange wire? |

From pioneer: Memory wire connects to Orange wire! And Ignition (+12v Switched) Red run straight from the battery (don't forget to put the fuse in line, make it very close to the battery)! |

Dustin! I'm wrong about Ignition (+12v Switched) Red wire. You have to connect straight to ignition lock, the ACC or RUN wire is brown color. sorry, my bad!!!

Mike, The brown wire goes to the Left Rear speaker. I got the head unit working, but it's not working properly. It runs all the time, unless you manually turn it off, and for some reason, when I turn on my lights with the cd player on it dims the guage lights (speedometer, etc.) to where you almost can't see the guages. Once I turn the car off, the lights return to their normality, but the cd player quits producing sound. The head unit still works and appears as though it is playing music, but no sound is coming out. So i have to turn my cd player off, then back on and it plays sound, and the lights go dim again. Also, now my car starts to get hot when I'm idling for a period of time. I'm pretty sure this is an indication I messed up somewhere! haha. What I did, is hooked BOTH my red, and yellow wires to my orange wire, because I tested each wire and the orange wire is the only hot wire coming from my car. Also, coming from my car are two ground wires, which confused me so I just wire-nutted one by itself. I am thinking about combining it with the other two. Any suggestions? |

Well, I now know that you HAVE to have both the red and yellow wires hooked up... but I don't think its good for them to be hooked to the same wire. But I don't know what to do, because the orange wire is the only wire that is hot. Also, attaching both grounds didn't help anything... gahhhh... |

Dustin, you have to connect Memory Wire to Orange OEM wire. For the(+12v Switched) Red wire, you have to run a new line,or from ignition lock(remove the trim panel, and look for the brown wire,it's ACC wire.),or run from cigarette lighter(try the orange wire,it's seems like ACC "+"). Ground "-", you can connect straight to the body(unpainted metal sur..). About speakers: as I see, there is OEM AMP...that is why you got problem with sound!well,it very simple to kill this problem, buy a 100' of 10-14G wire (15-25$) and rewire all speakers straight to HU.(better, if you get a nice set of speakers too...). That is all. Good Luck. |

Mike, I just wanted to take a minute to thank you for all the hard work you have been doing to help me out. I really do appreciate it! Where would be the best place to connect this new wire, directly to the switch, or is there a terminal block somewhere I attach it to? I thought of hooking it to my cigarette lighter, but I know my cigarette lighter works at all times, regardless of whether the ignition is on or not, so it would have a permamently hot wire. You're going to kill me for this, but I finally figured out the solution to my speakers not working when i shut my car off, and my guages being dim. When i was originally wiring my HU, I saw that there were two grey wires, identical in color. Well, I saw that one of my grey wires was a speaker wire for my FL speaker, so I chose the closest grey wire to my brown (positive) wire, and wired it up. Well I noticed later on, (after i had forgot what i had done, thinking i did it right) one of my speakers weren't working, so I just assumed I blew it. Well it finally hit me like a ton of bricks that I had my grey wires switched! Coincidentally, the other grey wire is the illumination wire, which was causing my guages to go dim! Now everything works fine, except for the fact that my cd player stays on at all times (unless i manually turn it off) since both my constant and memory are hooked to the same wire. |

I am trying to hook up my panasonic cd deck into my 1989 Ford Taurus, I was wondering what I needed in the lines of wiring harnesses, mounting kits and if i needed an antenna plug to hook up my deck. Right now I have the factory deck in there and its the original that came with the car. Also if there are any wiring schematics the help would be appreciated. |

I've got a 2005 Ford Explorer XLT with factory AM/FM, single CD system, with factory sub. I am thinking of replacing the factory HU. Does anyone know for certain if this factory system has an external factory amp which drives the four 5x7/6x8 door speakers? If so, replacing the HU is going to involve more work than I anticipated since I will neeed to either run new speaker wires from the HU to the speakers or tap into the existing ones somewhere after the factory amp. Thanks! |
