you can also look into 2 channel amps that put out 1000w when bridged into a 4ohm load.

make it into a 1ohm load...
BXI2006D would be the ideal amplifier to use..well atleast that is what i use for my 2 type X's n' it works great even tho it could take more power..that amp works great.

sorry for double post but if you only have 1 type X use the BXI1206D because then your putting out more then its rated for and the sub always wants more so you should be plenty happy with that amp. while running 1200 watts rms x 1ch @ 1 ohm

you cant you can wire it at a 2ohm load or 8 ohms which is out of the question.. for 2 ohms you wire it the voice coils in parrallel pos to pos neg to neg

so basically adam, you dont want an amp 1000 @ 4 ohms, but 1000 @ 2 ohms since 1 dvc 4 ohm sub cant wire to a 4 ohm load. www.the12volt.com (adam)

the "as cheap as possible" part makes it tough.

There are several budget amps that are 1000w at 1 ohm but for some reason they're much less common at 2 ohms.

PG has one in the Octane line that would work - 15.0:1

This would do a good job -

You might also check ebay for a JBL BP1200.1
