I don't have the special tools and i tried coat hangers in the little holes. anyone got any suggestions other than the special tool? |

You can also try smaller flathead screwdrivers in the holes-they're stronger.
Also, if you're good at being careful, two flat head screwdrivers on either side of the unit, push them outwards and pull the deck out at the same time.
If all else fails, the tools aren't more than $15 and might even be cheaper on ebay.

I thought they were like $10 or something at Wal-Mart. I say you'd be better of just getting the tools than playin around with coat hangers and screwdrivers. |
