Very good reproduction as far as clarity. Heard a set of the D3 with a Tru amp. Excellent clarity. And that was just the 3. The HEX sets are also pleasing.
I just hate Diamond amps.

Their entry line is nothing to write home about and IMO more just a product diamond puts out to cater to the entry level market. They're nothing like the higher lines. Their amps are good as long as you get the D5/D6 or above. D3 amps was not as impressive as the D5/D6 and for the money i'd rather get ED or something else. Never liked Diamonds EQs on the amps as they're too much for someone who wants a fullrange amp and the older d5 had some weird power ratings, the 300.4 made like 37.5x4@4ohms. I prefer my Monitor 1's which I paid half the price for and sound way better. The Diamond Hex speakers are very good and the D9 series from what i've heard is quite good too.

They make excellent amps, not feature wise, but build wise. The D9 amps are especially notable. I'd say the amps are the best thing about Diamond.

I couldn't stand the HEX components. Blah. Nothing close to natural, midbass is rather weak too. I'd like to hear the new Morel designed D9 components, though.

That's good to hear. The size to power ratio of those things bother me. ALL of them are huge (Not to mention the chrome :-( ). But nice to hear they at least have a good build q.
I stand by the mid range of those 6's though. Low end was lacking, but the clarity, especially for such a "moderate" line, was exceptional imo.

HEX's were a variation of Eton hexacones. Originals were german built

The current Hexes are an asian built variation, originals were better. Those might be what you're referring to *shrugs*

Dunno about the D6 comps, though, haven't heard them.

Ja :-)

The HEX were quite some time ago, but the d6 were a few months back. It's getting to be quite the drag-everything in America is leaning toward commercial and lesser quality to yield higher profit margins. Hey... capitalism

All one needs is an active crossover and enough amplifier, then he opens his/herself to a whole other world of possibilities :-)

That world starts on these sites :-):

Home drivers are SOOOOOO much better for the money compared to what you get in a car. The exceptions are usually from these same manufacturers, such as Dyn, DLS, SEAS, etc.
