hi i have a audiobahn 4 channel(a6004t)amp hooked to my 4 pioneer speakers. the amp is 600 RMS. my question is.. is the amp always producing 600 RMS even if my speakers require 280 RMS? or is the amp producing only the amount that my speakers require?

no at high volumes your amp will be pushing that amount of power. You set your amp input (gain) to match your HU's RCA output at roughly 3/4 volume. That is where you will see the most power out of your amp.

the speaker RMS rating has no affect on the amp's RMS ratings. only the load the speakers present on the amp. the speaker's RMS ratings should be taken into consideration when choosing an amp, so you don't give them more then they can handle, thats it.
