Anyone know how to tell if a speaker is blown or defective? My Energy Con. 4 left speaker crackles on certain notes and is fine on others? Easy to replace a speaker?? Please email me @ speters@mds.nordion.com. Thanks!! |

speakers are easy to replace. you can tell if its blown by listening to it by itself, and if you have a multimeter you can test its resistence. Basically, if it sounds distorted at reasonable volume it is probably blown, but if it is not constant then it could be another problem. |

Get a test CD with a sweep tone. CBS-sells the official one, Stereophile, www.partsexpress and a few other sell them too. They should cost between free and $45. When the sweep plays, the sound of a damaged driver will be VERY obvious. Hope this helps. |
