Anyone know how to tell if a speaker is blown or defective?

My Energy Con. 4 left speaker crackles on certain notes and is fine on others? Easy to replace a speaker??

Please email me @ speters@mds.nordion.com.

Thanks!!

speakers are easy to replace. you can tell if its blown by listening to it by itself, and if you have a multimeter you can test its resistence. Basically, if it sounds distorted at reasonable volume it is probably blown, but if it is not constant then it could be another problem.

Get a test CD with a sweep tone. CBS-sells the official one, Stereophile, www.partsexpress and a few other sell them too. They should cost between free and $45. When the sweep plays, the sound of a damaged driver will be VERY obvious.

Hope this helps.
