I have a aw8002t amp now I know it is 800w rms x 1 at 4ohms
and I also have aw8000t amp and I know its 800w rms x 1 at 2ohms. I've heard the lower the ohms the harder it hits. Now my question is even though both equal out 800w rms am I better (say I only want to use one of the 2 amps) using the aw8000t amp with a sub wired down to 2 ohms or the aw8002t amp with a sub wired down to 4 ohms OR are they the same. This is something that confuses me. Any help??? Please Please |

if amp A is 800 watts @ 4 ohms, and amp B is 800 watts @ 2 ohms, I'd go with the 800 @ 4 ohms.
it's a larger amp, but at 4 ohms you get better SQ overall. more dynamic range, better SNR, better damping, lower THD, etc.. all because the amp isn't being pushed as hard or as close to it's limits with a 4 ohm load.
the drawback is a higher cost per watt when buying the amp.
all of the amps in my system run at 4 ohms actually, because I used larger amps at higher loads for better SQ instead of trying to squeeze every last watt out of them for higher SPL.

you will need dual 4 subs to run the 8002t and dual 2s to run 8000t amps. |
