The T15kW is just a pub stunt to get the word out.
I would expect a Fosgate sponsored competitor or two to use one, otherwise it's just an advertisement.
once they incorporate the technology into a reasonably sized amp it might be a hit, assuming it doesn't cost $1000.

In the SPL competition world 350A would classify as pretty small, wouldn't it?
It's not like Joe Average is going to want this thing in the back of his Civic.

Hmmm - makes me seriously wonder if u put a craphammer with 1 of those amp in a MINI COOPER - what would the SPL level be like seeing that the mic would be like 3ft on the windscreen ..........Upload

I think it's more an announcement of sorts that RF is back to stake their claim as one of the premier manufacturers of car audio. Particularly their OG claim to fame-amplification.
As I stated, the technology that they have managed is certainly worthy of respect (a worth rare nowadays). So it's a proclamation that they no longer are merely bb, cc, and crotchfeald material. A back-to-roots epiphany of which they seem to want to make everyone aware. What other good would a 15g amp be? Certainly not profit.

a 15Kw class D amplifier would require 1500A of current at full output.
That's a bit excessive in any sanctioning body.

"a 15Kw class D amplifier would require 1500A of current at full output.

I can see it in the FAQs.

Joe Blow:

"Dear Rockford Fosgate Tech Help:

I'm interested in your T15kW amplifier, but I'm concerned about the current that this amplifier may demand from my charging system. Will I need to upgrade my alternator in order for this to work well?"

RF:

"Hello, Joe Blow. It is not necessary to upgrade your alternator with this. You only need Punch Power caps!!! A general rule of thumb is to use 1 farad per 1000 watts of power, so you simply need to buy 15 1 farad Punch power caps and you'll have no problems! Thanks for your interest in Rockford Fosgate"

LOL, I can see it too. That amp is just insane, just some sweet eye candy like the Jackhammer.

The amplifier IS running all (60) 12" subwoofers in the demo room with channels 3&4 bridged at 1-Ohm! Channels 1&2 run all (16) 6x9" for high end.

The amplifier is a FULL-RANGE amplifier a Class A/B circuit design with new Hybrid Technology and 140 Volts of storage. To produce this much power utilizing traditional Class A/B technology would require 2,000 Amps of current whereas the Power T15kw utilizes 500% less current to produce the same amount of output power.

You'll hurt yourself trying to figure it out ... This WILL change the way mobile audio amplifiers are designed. Several competitors have been in the Rockford Fosgate booth (I can't name them but the one sounds like STICKER and have been here 4 times scoping out the technology - and another has two initials in their AUDIO title) congratulating Tony D. the engineer that someone "finally" provided a new circuit solution for the car audio industry.

It never draws more than 350A - but it's basically a continuous draw. During low demand passages it continues to draw more current than it needs, stores it in the massive banks of capacitors so during high demand it can draw on the capacitors - not the alt/battery.

The realistic application of the technology will take hold when they put out a 1000w rms amp that never draws more than 30A.

well the capictor is still doing their job. =D
They probALY charge and hold that charge way longer than any b4. B4 its starts to leak like any capicitor. Cause they have to leak, and discharge themselves at some point.

it would be cool, when they implement this stuff in other things beside car audio. =D

in other words its just an amplifier with a capacitor bank internally.. so it will still draw the current, just over a prolonged period.. at least until the capacitors are depleted.
cheesey.

I was thinking the same thing. Not what I'd consider revolutionary, but I guess it'll satisfy SPL competitors.

This is a COMPLETELY different subject in the wrong forum as well, but it's got the rediculous numbers part in it...

Anyone heard anything about the Earthquake HoleeS? They're 16" and 7000W RMS. Is Earthquake a good brand to begin with? Yea, couple a pair of those to that RF amp, another match made in Heaven.

Just thought I'd ask...These subs seem to be a hot topic on MySpace car audio forums where they still think Kicker Solobaric/SoloX series woofers are the best SPL woofers (or just woofers period).

I meant a couple of them or a pair, not a couple pair.
