142.9 from a single 12" sub is very respectable, especially if it's a SQL application and on the new termlab. Not a lot more you can do while retaining musicality, aside from adding another sub and amp.

Replacing your 12W7 with a 13W7 will get a little louder, but not the gain you would get from adding another 12W7.

also, there is no prefab HO boxes for the 13w7 like your 12w7, so unless you're very good at box building, you'd actually lose a little bit.

If you're running your 12W7 w/ a 1000/1 now, why not get another 12W7 powered by another 1000/1?

if you could add 1 more sub it wouldnt make that much of a difference if any. You are currently running 1-12 with 1000 watts, now if you add a second and give them 500 each you will be losing 3db's for cutting the power in half but adding 3db's for surface area of another sub. 142.9 is very loud for a everyday application:-) if you want to go strict SPL thats one thing you can get much higher but if you want it to maintain decent SQ then you arnt going to get much higher unless you plan on dropping a good amount of money which you might be prepared to do I have no idea. NICE score man especially if it was legally judged on the new term lab:-)

It's considered that doubling total power (not power to each individual driver) is what provides a 3db increase. Maintaining the same total power will keep you at that level, with the 3db benefit of added cone area. So it'd be a 3db gain.

i always thinks it's funny when the W7 comes up and people say its a SQL sub. but bottom line those damn things get loud. maybe not for hardcore spl people and compared to these underground internet spl subs like RE and AA and whatever but for all tense and purposes the W7 is a loud sub.

W7 will hang with an XXX and Avalanche, though the 15" XXX and Ava will slightly surpass the 13W7. But, W7 sounds better IMO.

I 2nd that. I've bashed JL in the past, but after I got one and tested it, I was impressed.
If you really want to compete with 15" XXX, then ask JL to build you a custom HO box for 13W7.
You'll need a large van though.

What do people think of Digital Designs? I had a 3515, built my own box to specs and powered it by a hifonics 1500d. It was the loudest I'd ever heard, but then again, I've never been to any competitions. Any inputs?

Others might disagree, but I'd just with the 1000/1. Otherwise, look for an amp that's stable at 1.5 ohms. Most other amps will only show ratings at 1, 2, and 4 whether or not they're stable at something odd like 1.5
