i have a old school atlas VII vari-power 400 watt amp. every time i turn up the volume, it goes into protect mode, how can i fix this? i took it apart and realized how little i really know about car audio. what should i do?

has it worked in the past? are you sure the install is correct? could be a faulty ground, reversed polarity, power wire hooked up to remote wire, ect need more info.

An amp can go into protection mode if over driven or under powered.
For example, the power drops below 11v or you set the gain/level to 1v and send 4v.

it worked fine and i checked all the wires. it hardly takes any power b4 it goes into protect

i think the gain was fine about 2.5--matched with the HU

i just got a new battery and it didnt have enough power to make the alt drag

is it just broke?

i figued it out, reversed polarity, they need to make all speaker wire diferent colors so you can esily tell b/w +&-
