i have a old school atlas VII vari-power 400 watt amp. every time i turn up the volume, it goes into protect mode, how can i fix this? i took it apart and realized how little i really know about car audio. what should i do?

has it worked in the past? are you sure the install is correct? could be a faulty ground, reversed polarity, power wire hooked up to remote wire, ect need more info. |

An amp can go into protection mode if over driven or under powered. For example, the power drops below 11v or you set the gain/level to 1v and send 4v. |

it worked fine and i checked all the wires. it hardly takes any power b4 it goes into protect i think the gain was fine about 2.5--matched with the HU i just got a new battery and it didnt have enough power to make the alt drag is it just broke? |

i figued it out, reversed polarity, they need to make all speaker wire diferent colors so you can esily tell b/w +&- |
