Well, I just went off today and bought two MTX Thunder 7500's. They are DVC. This is my dilemma I think I may be facing: I decided to rid myself of the MTX 4500's and get beefier. I also purchased an MTX Ta3401 400 watt amp. Now, this is the thing. This one amp will power both of my 7500's, but just BARELY. My question is, would there be a possibility of buying another 3401 and bridge the amps together so I can power both subs at there max. power? If not, then theres only two more options.

1. Either I buy another ta3401 for the 2nd sub and power each sub with its own amp. But this is the problem! I will still be stuck in the 4ohm world! I need to know if theres anyway I can make them into 2ohm? That way each sub will be powered at its maximum performance.

2. or I buy one amp that powers them both at the max. Which would be the MTX TA7801.

Is there any solution to my problem with the items that I already possess?

How do I know if the amp is bridgeable? One TA3401 amp is 2ohm stable. Delivering 800 watts peak at 2ohms.

Also, how would I go about bridging two amps?

That amp is 2ohm stable....stereo mode only. If those are dual 4, then buy either a 1hm stable amp or a good 2channel and run it stereo only.

Could you elaborate on what you are talking about? What does stereo mode have to do with anything?

Actually, disregard that last post. I found my solution to my problem.

I just called Car Toys, and they told me that with a DVC I can run the subs in a series to bring it down to 2ohms. My first option is my solution. By bringing it down to 2ohms per sub I can purchase another 3401 and have each sub powered by its own amp at a full 400 watts RMS!

I just have made my system a beast! Thanks for helping guys. You win some, you lose some.

Unless you run a 14.4volt sytem that amp will never see 400w. it is rated at 14.4 volts

Your system, while the car is on, runs at around 14.4 volts. If your car is off, you'd run around 12.5 volts. If, while your car is on, you're only getting like 12.5 volts while running, you're having problems.

less then 14.4 volt, maybe mid 13, but the amp is tested @14.4 and the difference means quite a bit.
