I am running 1 guage power from the battery to a distribution block to 4guage to each amp. With this set up should I use 4 gauge from each amp to a distribution block and then to 1guage ground? Or should I just use 4 guage and ground within 12 inches?

use the same set up as for power, 1 into ground block, then 4 out to amps.

just grounding each amp w/ 4ga will be just fine.

just scrape all the paint away from your gounding point and keep the grounds as short as possible. (12" is just fine)
