Hey guys, im new at this car audio thing, so i was jsut wondering if you guys culd help me. i have a 800watt sony xplode amp and im just wondering y its not powering up at all. i have it connected to the battery, earthered to the car and the rem connected to the power antenner on my headunit. but the led on the amp isnt turning on. Is this because my power wire is only 10 guage? wen i check the voltage at the battery end of the wire, it reads around 14 volts, but at the amp end it only reads 8. is this why it isnt powering up? not enough voltage is getting to it?

yeah, 10 guage is not good at all. I would definately go minimum 8, or better yet, get 4 guage. 4 guage is uauslly standard for a 1 or 2 amp setup pushing around 1000w RMS.
