I got a kicker KX 400.1 and 2 12" alipne type R's how should I wire these and how should I have the amp tuned?? thanks |

The subs are Dual 4 ohm.... and for some reason when I turn them up they will usually cut out... Im pretty sure I have them wired right... their wired for a 2 ohm load... how should I have the X-over bass boost and gain set on the amp?? how about on my eclipse head unit? |

if they are two 4+4 DVC subs, that'd be one ohm
that's why they are cutting out

ideally, get a 1 ohm stable amp, or two 4 ohm subs.
otherwise, rewire htem in series for a 4 ohm load, and a drastic drop in power.

I tried wiring them in series and I could hardly hear the bass, not enough power... I'm just gonna have to get a 1ohm stable amp, but until then im gonna run them 1ohm off of the KX 400.1 .... will I mess up my amp by running it at 1 ohm? or will it be alright for a week or 2 as long as I don't really turn it up? |

you'll put the amp into thermal protection and quite probably damage both the speakers and the amp.
