i have a 98 jetta with and alpine deck i had to buy an antenna adaptor for the radio to work but only fm works and i cant get any am stations. anyone know what could be wrong ??????

If the fm works, but am doesn't, it might need a new tuner...there aren't any screws touching the tuner that are grounded to the chassis of the unit, are there?
